Minimally Invasive Bariatric & General Surgeon Dr. Josh Mourot was born and raised in Lake Jackson, Texas but has strong Arkansas roots. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arkansas with a degree in chemical engineering. He then started his Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Rice University before realizing his desire for a career in medicine. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Both his general surgery residency and fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery were completed at the University of Washington.
Dr. Mourot has co-authored many papers and received various awards for his excellence in research and academics. Dr. Mourot chose minimally invasive and weight loss surgery as his specialty because he enjoys the team environment in the operating room and the ability to positively impact patient lives. He is married to his wife, Rebecca, and they have two sons, Gage and Luke.
