Live out of town but interested in having your surgery at Roller Weight Loss?

We respect your time and understand that multiple appointments and travel can be tiresome and time consuming, which is why we do our very best to streamline the process without jeopardizing the quality of patient care.

Why choose Roller Weight Loss & Advanced Surgery?

Roller Weight Loss & Advanced Surgery features the only group of fellowship-trained bariatric (weight loss) and advanced general laparoscopic surgeons in Arkansas.

Fast facts

  • Our surgeons are board-certified, and fellowship trained in bariatric surgery.
  • Our three surgeons have performed more than 4,500 bariatric surgeries and have created a practice known and sought after around the country. They stay abreast of the latest clinical advancements and are extensively published. Additionally, they have lectured or taught around the states.
  • Our surgeons have surgical privileges with several local hospitals but perform most procedures at a Center of Excellence. This accreditation requires us to conform to strict national standards regarding equipment, surgeon and staff credentials and operating room safety. Few surgical facilities maintain the standards necessary for this accreditation.
  • Our practice has the capability to handle non-invasive surgery and surgical procedures, all in the same location offering an added convenience for our patients.

Patient education

Patient education is of the utmost importance to us. While our in-house seminars are very popular, we offer online seminars for the convenience of our patients. So, if you can’t make it to one of our live seminars, it’s not a problem. You can now watch our seminar online. The online seminar will take approximately 40 minutes to complete. We encourage you to have pen and paper handy to write down any questions you may have. You will need to have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player on your computer to allow the presentation to play and can download it for free here.

We streamline the process for out-of-town patients.

We will coordinate with your local primary care physician to get lab work, EKG (electrocardiogram), letter of support, weight history and any other necessary items completed prior to travel if you would like. If your insurance company requires a few months of diet and exercise prior to surgery, we will coordinate with your provider of choice in your hometown. If your insurance does not have a diet and exercise requirement, an expedited process can be utilized.

You can arrive at our state-of-the-art testing facility and have all your testing done, such as cardiac stress test, sleep study, endoscopy, lab work, EKG, pulmonary function, chest X-ray, and medical assessment done in one day and have surgery as soon as two days later. You will stay in the surgical facility overnight and then transfer to your hotel for the remainder of your stay.

Virtual or in-person consultation

You can choose to visit us for a face-to-face consultation, or we can conduct a “virtual” consultation via telephone or online conference. During the consultation, a health history will be obtained, and a necessary testing list developed. Testing is tailored to each individual based on their co-morbid conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), kidney disease, and history of blood clots.

Planning guide

Please plan to arrive one day before your scheduled pre-operative appointment so Dr. Roller and his staff can meet with you before the surgery. Plan to stay in the Northwest Arkansas area for approximately 10 to 14 days after your procedure. The recovery time depends on the type of surgery you have, and how well you are healing after the procedure.

However, most patients are able to travel after this 10-to-14-day recovery period. Please consult your patient coordinator for detailed information about your procedure, as well as instructions and special considerations for traveling before and after your procedure.
