Roller Weight Loss & Advanced Surgery employs a multidisciplinary, team approach to provide specialized bariatric medical care. Our program coordinator assists each patient with all phases of the program. Dr. Kristin Roller leads the medical side of the team and evaluates each patient thoroughly from a medical perspective prior to weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery). Our dedicated bariatric dietitian provides both pre- and post-op nutritional counseling to help patients maximize their weight loss potential. Our clinical psychologist performs an extensive pre-operative psychological evaluation and counsels patients on behavioral and life-style issues related to weight loss surgery. Post-operatively, the psychologist continues to follow patients, providing guidance and support.
Our program seeks to ensure that patients are making informed decisions, are qualified candidates for surgery and are committed to making the lifestyle changes necessary for long-term weight loss success.

A Northwest Arkansas native, Shanda Guenther earned her nursing degree from the University of Arkansas. She later completed a master’s degree in Leadership and Ethics from John Brown University. Upon graduating from Arkansas, Shanda was a labor and delivery nurse at Willow Creek Women’s Hospital. While she loved the direct patient care experience, it was there that her passion for leadership and process improvement began, prompting a change to administration, eventually serving as the Chief Quality Officer for Northwest Hospitals in the NWA area. Most recently she held the title of Assistant Chief Nursing Officer for Northwest Hospital in Springdale, Arkansas. The continuum of care and ability to witness patient’s lives change thanks to weight loss surgery is what drew her to this opportunity.
