Advanced weight loss surgeries

Gastric bypass

Gastric bypass surgery, when performed at Roller Weight Loss & Advanced Surgery, is performed laparoscopically. The surgery involves making changes to the stomach and small intestine to impact the way it is absorbed and the amount of food that can be consumed while altering the hormones in the gut that send the hunger signals to your brain.

Modified duodenal switch

This bariatric surgery combines the gastric sleeve and gastric bypass techniques. The sleeve restricts the amount of food the patient can eat to feel full, decreasing the hunger hormones. The small intestines are also re-routed, limiting the time the consumed food is mixed with digestive juices so the body absorbs less calories.

Gastric sleeve

Gastric sleeve or “sleeve gastrectomy” is a procedure that removes 75% to 80% of the stomach pouch. This change in the stomach limits the quantity of food that can be consumed before the sensation of being full is achieved. At Roller Weight Loss & Advanced Surgery, the gastric sleeve procedure is performed through laparoscopically, which means shorter incisions and a faster recovery time.

Lap-Band®

Lap-Band surgery (laparoscopic adjustable gastric band surgery) is the least invasive bariatric surgery. In this weight loss procedure, an adjustable band is placed around the upper part of the stomach pouch, reducing the amount of food that can be eaten at one time. It’s adjustable, reversible, and doesn’t involve removing any part of the stomach.

Traditional duodenal switch

A traditional duodenal switch combines the techniques of malabsorption and restriction — but more of the small intestine is bypassed than in the modified duodenal switch surgery, with two surgical connections made rather than the single connection of the modified duodenal switch.

Non-surgical weight loss

Orbera® Intragastric Balloon

The Orbera Gastric Balloon is a breakthrough in advanced weight loss. Rather than surgically altering the stomach size or rerouting a section of the digestive system, an inflatable balloon is swallowed while the patient is mildly sedated. Once in place, the balloon is inflated to about the size of an orange, limiting food intake. It is non-surgical, non-invasive, and incision-free. The balloon can remain for six months, after which it is removed.
